When we think of God, what comes to mind? So many images I’m sure. But the Bible presents us with one picture of God more than any other.

He is our Heavenly Father. Our “Abba” Daddy.

Check out Galatians 4:4-7: “But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.  And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!” So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God.”

In light of this passage, here are 5 truths our Heavenly Father gives us:

#1. Jesus was born under the law so that we could be redeemed from under the law. He got what we deserved to give us what He deserved. He paid the ultimate ransom by giving His own life in order to release us from our captivity to sin.

#2. When we receive Him as our Heavenly Father, we become His sons and daughters. We are eternally safe, regardless of our past, present, or future sins. With the fight to perform and earn His approval officially over, He simply wants our hearts.

#3. As His children, we are fully known yet fully loved. Just as God sent Jesus into this world, He sends Him into our hearts forever! Not only do we have eternal security, but we have daily intimacy with our Father and a relational closeness our hearts long for.

#4. Because we are sons and daughters of God, we are beneficiaries of everything He owns! We are co-heirs with Jesus and have an all-access pass to the fullness of God’s presence both now and for eternity. He whispers in our ear, “All I have is yours.”

#5. We may be parents, brothers, sisters, teachers, accountants, or coaches. We may have done something in the past that haunts us still today and we’ve labeled ourselves a certain way. But our identity isn’t in a title or label or what we’ve done or haven’t done. Friends, our true, airtight, always and forever identity is this: We are sons and daughters of our Heavenly Father.

And He picks us up, dusts us off, and wipes the tear from our eye and whispers in our ear: You are safe. You are loved. And all I have is yours.
