#10. Deep within we desire a scapegoat – a person or thing to blame or cast our guilt upon. Reality: these things never give us the freedom we want.
#9. God provides the perfect scapegoat, Jesus, who is without defect, fault, blame & guilt. “He who knew no sin, became sin.” 2 Cor. 5:21
#8. Like a lamb led to the slaughter who keeps quiet, Jesus said not a word when wrongly accused. He was laying down His life for His friends (us).
#7. When Jesus arrived in Jerusalem on Lamb Selection Day (Palm Sunday), God was saying, “Here’s my perfect lamb. Choose Him.”
#6. When Barabbus was released, Jesus got what we deserved to give us what He deserved. He became guilty so we could be innocent.
#5. When Jesus on the cross said, “Forgive them,” He was pleading w/ God to take us off the hook & put Himself on the hook.
#4. The serious pain and agony of the crucifixion symbolizes the serious weight and darkness of our sin. He suffered so we could be saved.
#3. Jesus caught Hell on the cross so we can catch Heaven for eternity.
#2. Jesus didn’t say, “I am finished.” He said, “It is finished.” Forgiveness was released, paradise was opened, and death was defeated.
#1. We are unfinished people resting in the finished work of God.
